Ghanaian prodigy Joshua Quarshie has made a significant leap by joining Fortuna Dusseldorf on loan from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

The German-born Ghanaian defender's transfer to the Bundesliga 2 side marks a pivotal chapter in his development, with no purchase option attached.

Quarshie, who has already left an indelible mark on Fortuna's football landscape, previously showcased his prowess as part of the youth team during the 2019/20 season. This return to familiar grounds seems destined to further solidify his position within the Fortuna family.

Having accumulated a wealth of experience with 45 appearances for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's regional league team, Quarshie's journey extends beyond the domestic stage. He was included in the Bundesliga club's extended professional squad, coupled with a brief but noteworthy appearance in the Bundesliga in 2022.

Klaus Allofs, Director of Sports & Communications stated that he expects both teams to benefit from the loan deal.

“Joshua Quarshie is a junior national player and has a lot of talent as a central defender. We have shown in the past how well we can develop players. That's why we were able to convince Hoffenheim of our interest and loan Joshua for one and a half seasons. I am sure that all parties will benefit from the loan,"  he said.

Christian Weber, sports director praised Quarshie's outstanding athletic abilities.

“After Jamil’s injury, we wanted to work in central defense again and were looking for a similar profile there. Joshua has outstanding athletic abilities and has all the prerequisites to develop into a very good central defender. We are pleased that another talented German player wants to join Fortuna.”
