It hasn't been an easy start for Ghanaian youngster Salim Abubakar and his club Sassuolo in the Italian U19 division as they had their first taste of victory in a 1-0 win against Cagliari on Sunday.
Salim Abubakar put in an encouraging performance for 75 minutes to help Sassuolo win away from home in matchday 5 of the Primavera 1 division.
The 18-year-old played a role in that decisive goal when he controlled the ball on his chest, and blocked two defenders to allow his teammate Luigi Samele to strike the ball into the right bottom corner in the 58th minute.
Rating: Abubakar 6.5: Very good in the first part of the game, where he catalyzed all the balls that passed from the median area of the field. His performance remains a good one.
His teammate and Arthur Legacy associate Justin Kumi, joined the fray in the 76th minute to strengthen the midfield and offer creativity in attack.
Kumi was part of the Italian national U18 team that prevailed 2-1 against Serbia in a friendly match during the international break.
The victory takes Sassuolo out of the relegation zone into 13th position with four points.
