Ghanaians should be patient with young players when they struggle with Black Stars - Chibsah

Former Ghana international Yussif Alhassan Chibsah has urged Ghanaians to be patient with young players when they struggle with the senior national team, the Black Stars.

He is saying this on the back of the Black Meteors’ qualification to the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to be hosted in Morocco in June.

Players like Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Ibrahim Danlad were in the Black Stars squad that played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup but have not been consistent at club level, leading to their drop from the team.

Chibsah is of the opinion that the youngsters are the future of the Black Stars and needs time to adjust.

“If you look at this team, it is a young team, they are future of the Black Stars. From the Under-23, you are going to the Black Stars.,” he told Asempa FM.

“Their inclusion in the Black Stars is to integrate them step by step. So if it does not go well when the young players are called up to the Black Stars, we have to be patient with them.”
