Ghana's Afriyie Acquah joins Iraqi club Al-Ouwa Al-Jawiya

Ghana's Afriyie Acquah has moved to Iraqi club Al-Ouwa Al-Jawiya on transfer deadline day on a free transfer.

According to reports Acquah has landed in Iraq and is set to finalize the agreement. Al-Ouwa Al-Jawiya signed the former Torino player to help them achieve their targets in the ongoing football season. Acquah's experience will be heavily depended on by his new club.

The defensive midfielder has agreed to a performance-based deal with a one-year extension option.

In the 2021/22 season, the 31-year-old made eight appearances for the Saudi team Al Batin. Acquah moved to Al Batin as a free agent after his contract with Turkish outfit Yeni Malatyaspor expired.

Acquah made his senior Ghana debut against Chile on 29 February 2012 at the PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. On 13 October 2012, in Civo Stadium, Lilongwe he scored a goal for Ghana against Malawi. He has made 39 appearances for the senior national team Black Stars and scored one goal.
