English-born Ghanaian midfielder Arvin Appiah grabbed an assist in Rotherham United's 2-1 defeat to Bristol City in the English Championship.

Arvin Appiah did not start the game at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. He came on in the 80th minute to replace Andre Green.

The head-to-head record for the teams before the game was Rotherham United five wins, Bristol City four wins, and three draws.

Rotherham United might have grabbed the lead in the 23rd minute when Jordan Hugill headed back across goal from Cohen Bramall's cross, but Andre Green was not strong enough to turn home from close range.

Rotherham's main threat was Bramall, who fizzed a dangerous ball into the near post that just escaped Hugill.

Fred Onyedinma headed over another cross as the Millers maintained their pressure.

The game was going for a stalemate until Conway burst down the left, cut inside, and curled a masterpiece into the far corner nine minutes from the conclusion of normal time.

After the hosts had recovered a corner, Blackett converted from Arvin Appiah's cross to give the Millers their first attempt on goal.

Tommy Conway's right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner gave Bristol City the winning goal in added time.
