Ghana’s Black Stars set for busy summer scheduled before Qatar world cup

Published on: 15 April 2022

The Black Stars of Ghana face a tight calendar and dilemma in the summer before travelling to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This is due to the fact that not only must the national team play a number of friendly matches but it must also gear up for the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

While the 2022 FIFA World Cup must be prioritised, it now appears the team will have a difficult time in the summer.

Particularly in June, sources report that the Black Stars are likely to play three friendly matches as part of preparations for the Qatar world cup.

Ghana in early April was drawn into Group H of the group stage for the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the end of the draw ceremony held in Doha, Qatar.

In the group, the Black Stars will face off with giants Portugal, former champions Uruguay, and tricky South Korea.

At the tournament, Ghana will take on Portugal in the first match of the group stage before going on to play against Uruguay and South Korea in the second and third matches.

This year’s FIFA World Cup has been scheduled to be played between November and December.

The Black Stars after missing the 2018 edition in Russia, are keen on travelling to Qatar to make an impact.
