Black Stars defender Edwin Gyimah has been given a starting role to play for Orlando Pirates in their Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Edwin Gyimah is expected to face former Ghana international John Paintsil in what will be the first Soweto Derby with league title potential in many years.

Paintsil who is currently assistant coach of Chiefs, are currently top of the standings with 13 points after six rounds of fixtures, and they are the team on form with four straight wins, while the Sea Robbers are placed sixth, four points behind their fierce rivals.

Pirates on the other hand have lived in the shadow of their nemesis in recent years and this could be their season to break out into the light, starting with Saturday’s first Soweto Derby of the season at the Calabash.

The last time Pirates won the league title was four years ago, while Chiefs have been crowned champions twice in the last four years.
