Ghana defender Edwin Gyimah scored for Sekhukhune United as they picked their first win of the DStv Premiership season with a 2-0 victory away to Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday evening.

Gyimah made his mark by expertly nodding in a corner to open the scoring for Sekhukhune United, thereby recording his first goal of the season.

The first half of the match saw both teams putting in considerable effort, yet neither side managed to gain an advantage on the scoreboard, resulting in a balanced conclusion to the opening period.

As the second half commenced, Sekhukhune United demonstrated their determination to dominate the game by increasing their tempo.

The introduction of Zaphaniah Mbokoma, who replaced former Black Leopards player Thutlwa, injected fresh energy into their approach.

The pivotal moment arrived when Babina Noko, Sekhukhune United, managed to seize the lead with composure.

Edwin Gyimah capitalized on Jamie Webber's corner, heading the ball into the net and securing his maiden goal of the season.

Cape Town Spurs struggled to find their rhythm and faced another setback as Chibuike Ohizu capitalized on a loose ball in the area, demonstrating his impeccable finishing skills by scoring Sekhukhune United's second goal.

Despite their efforts, the hosts failed to engineer a turnaround in the dying minutes of the match.

Consequently, they suffered their second consecutive defeat, while Sekhukhune United celebrated their first triumph of the season with a well-deserved victory.
