Ghana international Joseph Aidoo has set sights on helping Celta Vigo finish high on the Spanish La Liga table at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Aidoo, who joined Celta Vigo from Belgian champions KRC Genk in the summer has been a key cog in defence of the Sky Blues.

Speaking to the club's website, the 23-year-old is confident Celta Vigo can finish in a better position in the 2019/20 season after narrowly escaping relegation last term.

"I hope that in the end, we are up in the rankings," he told the club's website.

He made his debut against Valencia as they won 1-0 at the Baladios stadium.

"The feeling was really beautiful when I found out that I was a starter. Seeing my name on the shirt was beautiful. And in the end, the victory was fantastic," he said about his debut.

He became the most expensive defender at Celta Vigo after the La Liga side signed him for €8m after an impressive season with Genk and Ghana at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

"I found out when we were resting on my previous team, we had a couple of days and I heard the interest of Celta. The negotiation took place while I was focused on the team."

After playing in Sweden and in Belgium, Aidoo is enjoying football in Spain and has pointed out that La Liga is a top league compared to the others.

"I think Spanish football is much more mature, full of talent, you really have to concentrate, much more than even one hundred percent. I find myself improving every day in training and also in matches. I hope that in the end, we are up, that's what I hope. "
