Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg for a summer transfer.

The 23-year-old central defender, who has played a vital role in Darmstadt's promotion to the German top flight, will join Augsburg on a free transfer, as reported by Sky Sports Germany.

Augsburg coach Enrico Maaßen is said to be eager to secure the signing of Pfeiffer in order to strengthen his team for the upcoming season.

Augsburg narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing in 15th place, and the addition of Pfeiffer is seen as a move to bolster the team's defense.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, Pfeiffer will sign a four-year contract that will keep him at Augsburg until 2027. This indicates the club's confidence in his abilities and their long-term plans for his development.

Pfeiffer has made a significant impact in the 2. Bundesliga, featuring in 24 games this season, scoring four goals, and providing an assist.

His defensive prowess is evident through his average of 2.3 interceptions per game, making him the second-highest in the league in this category.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Pfeiffer made headlines when he officially switched his nationality to represent Ghana at the senior level in July 2022, as announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Despite his impressive performances, he is yet to receive a call-up to the Black Stars national team.
