English-born Ghanaian midfielder Tyrese Fornah has bid farewell to Reading FC and wished them well after a successful loan spell during the 2021/22 season.

Fornah made 35 Championship appearances for Reading, scoring twice and providing two assists, before the club was relegated due to a six-point deduction.

On social media, Fornah expressed his gratitude to Reading and stated that he was proud to have played for the club with its rich history of giving young players a chance in the first team.

He also expressed his confidence that the Royals would soon return to the second tier.

“A year full of ups and downs, but personally grateful and thankful to @readingfc for bringing me back to the club where it all started for me, and really giving me the opportunity, platform & stage to play in the championship which words can’t repay but this big club will be back,” he said on Twitter.

“Also want to thank the staff and people behind the scenes that go unnoticed people like Lynne, Jayne our receptionists, then kitchen staff like Jody, Paul & Sophie and other key members like Sue, Luke Bish, Claire who are the backbone of the club who have been with us.

“During this extremely tough season but most importantly to the fans, coaching staff and my teammates for helping me and supporting me on and off the pitch throughout the season realise the goal and ambition I had when I first came through the doors at Hogwood as a 13 year old.

“Pushing to play for this big club with a rich history of giving young players through the academy a chance in its first team which many have done before me so I’m grateful for, but I know and believe this special club will be back. Much love to you Royals.”

Fornah will now return to Nottingham Forest, where he will have the chance to compete for a place in the team for the upcoming season.
