Gladson Awako, two other home-based players to miss Black Stars v Morocco friendly

Three Local players Gladson Awako, Abdul Ganiu Ismail, and Rashid Nortey are set miss Ghana’s friendly match against Morocco this month.

As part of preparations for the group stage of the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled to commence in September this year, African countries are playing various friendly matches in June.

Ghana in particular has lined up two friendly matches with Morocco and Ivory Coast next month.

Ahead of the match, key players with their clubs in the Ghana Premier League have been released by Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor to ensure they help their teams in matches this weekend.

As a result Gladson Awako (Great Olympics), Abdul Ganiu (Asante Kotoko), and Rashid Nortey (Medeama SC) have all returned to their clubs today.

They are hence expected to miss Ghana’s game against Morocco on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in Rabat.

The three players will later return to the camp of the Black Stars to prepare for the other friendly match against Ivory Coast.
