Goalkeeper David Akologo named in Ghana’s squad for Nigeria, Uganda friendlies in spite of Bolivia call up

Aurora goalkeeper David Akologo has received his first call-up to the Ghana national team, the Black Stars, for the upcoming international friendly matches against traditional rivals Nigeria and Uganda next week.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper, who hails from Accra, was also recently selected for the Bolivia national team for their fixtures against Algeria and Bolivia in the inaugural FIFA series tournament.

Akologo, who has been showcasing his skills in Bolivian top-flight football since 2020, is recognized as one of the standout goalkeepers in the country.

Despite having previous experience with the Black Satellites, the former Mighty Jet player is currently faced with a decision between representing Ghana and Bolivia, having received invitations from both national teams within a short span of time.

The upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda mark the first gathering of the Black Stars since their disappointing campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year in Cote d'Ivoire.

Ghana is set to face Nigeria on March 22 in Marrakech, followed by a match against Uganda on March 26.
