Ghana goalkeeper, Joseph Wollacott will be available for selection on Thursday when the Black Stars welcome Angola in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Charlton Athletic goalie picked an injury in training on Tuesday when the goalpost fell on him.

After the incident disrupted the training of the Black Stars, Joseph Wollacott had to end the session to be attended to by the medical team.

Hours later, the Ghana FA in a communique has confirmed that the injury was nothing serious.

The player has shaken it off and will be training with his Black Stars teammates on Wednesday. Subsequently, he will be able to feature in the game against Angola if he is selected.

“Goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott hobbled off during training on Tuesday evening after suffering a soft tissue contusion of the right big toe.

“He was immediately assessed by the medical team and given emergency treatment. Wollacott was later reassessed in the medical room at the team hotel and currently, there are no major medical worries since the player is almost pain-free.

“The medical team would like to assure the football public that Wollacott will be available for selection as he has been cleared to train on Wednesday,” the GFA said in a communique on Tuesday night.

The game between Ghana and Angola comes off on Thursday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The game will kick off at 4pm.
