Goalkeeper Richard Ofori advised to choose Orlando Pirates over Sundowns

Platinum Stars midfielder Steve Lekoelea has advised Ghanaian international Richard Ofori to join Orlando Pirates instead of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ofori, 26, joined Maritzburg United in 2018 and has since established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Ahead of the summer transfer window, the Black Star's first-choice goalkeeper has been linked with a transfer to Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to Platinum Stars midfielder Steve Lekoelea, it will be best for Richard Ofori to choose Orlando Pirates over Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I will advise him to join Pirates. At Sundowns he will face tough competition”, Steve Lekoelea said in an interview with KickOff.com.

He added, “There are lots of good goalkeepers there. There is [Denis] Onyango and [Kennedy] Mweene there. Where is he going to play?

“At Pirates, he has a good chance of playing. I don't even rate that goalkeeper from France [Joris Delle]. Nami ngiyamuhalela [I also wish to take shots against him].

“I used to do that at Pirates when new goalkeepers arrive in the team. I remember that goalkeeper from DRC [Makweni Mayala].

“I asked the guys to give me him for a free-kick. Ngamneka [I beat him on the free-kick]. I told the guys that he was not a good goalkeeper.

“At moment Pirates are struggling with goalkeepers and Ofori could make a good signing."
