Dreams FC attacking midfielder Sylvester Simba has opened up on his outfit elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Still Believe lads defied all odds to reach the semifinals of their maiden participation in the Confederation Cup campaign.

Dreams FC were on the brink of making history, but things fell apart after succumbing to a heavy defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to Zamalek.

The Ghana FA Cup holders went into the return leg with the advantage after holding the Egyptian powerhouse to a pulsating goalless draw in the first leg played at the Cairo International Stadium.

But the Ghanaian outfits’ hopes of reaching the finals dashed after succumbing to a 3-0 defeat.

“First of all, we thank God for where we have gotten to. It was a difficult task playing against one of the best teams in Africa (Zamalek). We thought we could get to the final but it didn’t happen. Although things didn’t go as expected but we still have another chance to go next season”

“We had the mentality that it was going to be easy for us in Kumasi because Baba Yara had been good to us throughout the campaign. We recorded just a draw in all our home games in Kumasi. We had high hopes that it was going to be easy against Zamalek but unfortunately for us, we lost”

“You know this Egyptian teams, they are very quick and have experience when it comes to competitions like this, so I guess this is where God said we should end our trip. So we thank God” he told Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com.

Dreams FC will now switch their attention to the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, where they have reached the semi-final. The FA Cup holders could return to Africa if they successfully defend their title.
