Godfrey commits to Canaries

Premier League new-boys Norwich City have confirmed that Ben Godfrey has signed a new four-year contract at Carrow Road.

The 21-year-old moved to the Canaries from York City in January 2016 and has made 42 appearances for the club, including 31 last term as Norwich won the Championship title.

"I'm delighted to commit my future to such a great club with ambitions and goals similar to mine in terms of staying at the highest level and I'm looking forward to next season," said Godfrey.

"There's only so long you can go without a ball at your feet before you get a little bit bored. I miss the boys, I miss training every day and I miss the atmosphere around the training ground. I'm now looking forward to getting back to working hard."

Norwich play Liverpool on Friday 9th August in their first Premier League match of the season and Godfrey is looking forward to playing at Anfield.

He added: "I think we can all look forward to it. It will be a great atmosphere at Anfield and it's a team that I dreamt of playing against as a young boy. We're all looking forward to it and we'll give it 110 per cent and hopefully come away with some points."

Daniel Farke's team are 16/1 to beat Liverpool at Anfield and 10/11 not to be relegated in the 2019/20 season.

Meanwhile, Marcel Franke has left the Canaries and moved to Hannover 96 for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The 26-year-old moved to Carrow Road two years ago but only made eight appearances for the club and was loaned out to Dynamo Dresden and Darmstadt.
