Gov't will pay for stadia usage for Ghana Premier League clubs - NSA boss confirms

The Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi has noted that the government will cater for the cost of all Ghana Premier League clubs that will be using state stadia in the 2020/2021 season.

The new football season is set to commence this weekend behind closed doors as a result of the increase in the number of active Coronavirus cases.

Aware of the financial burden that will have on clubs, the government has decided that teams that will be using stade-owned stadia will not pay a penny throughout the period.

"The government of Ghana has absorbed the charges of the National Sports Authority for the usage of the various stadia after the Ministry of Youth and Sports directed no spectators at Ghana Premier League Centres," Prof. Peter Twumasi has revealed to Oyerepa FM today.

This comes as a big boost for clubs who will not be making any money from gate proceeds as long as the order to play behind closed doors is in place.
