Although the Porcupine Warriors club had struggled in the early parts of the season, they were still favourites for the league title until top striker Kwame Poku was transferred to USM Alger.

In addition, change in managers saw Portuguese trainer Mariano Barreto being appointed as the new head coach.

Reviewing the just ended Ghana Premier League where Hearts of Oak have been crowned champions, Kojo Addae-Mensah says the Kwame Poku factor caused Kotoko to miss out on clinching the title.

“The appointment of Barreto and the sale of Kwame Opoku cost Kotoko the Ghana Premier League,” the Data Bank CEO said in an interview with Ashh FM.

The football enthusiast and pundit added, “Coach Ibrahim Tanko who is currently holding UEFA license is the right man for Kotoko coaching job.”
