Accra Lions have finished the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko today.

The capital-based club last season secured a historic promotion to the Ghanaian top-flight league.

Despite not being fancied, the team proved very strong and gave clubs a lot of competition in the first round of the league season.

Today, Accra Lions FC welcomed Asante Kotoko to the Accra Sports Stadium for the final match of the league season.

On the matchday, both teams managed to create chances in the first half but neither side was able to score.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Accra Lions scored through Abass Salifu in the 53rd minute to take the lead.

The team almost run away with the maximum points but could not defend in the final moments of the game.

As a result, Asante Kotoko restored parity through Samuel Boateng to force the match to end in a stalemate.

Asante Kotoko finishes the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season as champions while Accra Lions are happy to have avoided relegation at the end of the campaign.
