Hearts of Oak have opened a three-point gap at the top of the Ghana Premier League table after beating rivals Asante Kotoko 1-0 on Sunday.

The two most glamourous clubs in the country locked horns at the Accra Sports Stadium in a matchday 31 encounter of the 2020/2021 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

Tied on points [56] prior to the start of the contest, both teams set up strong with their best eleven hoping to get a good result to gain the advantage on the league table.

In a game that failed to produce a goal in the first half although both teams created some half chances, fans of the home team had something to cheer for in the second half.

In-form winger Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored in the 67th minute to shoot Hearts of Oak into a deserved lead after several impressive attacks at the defense of the visitors.

Although Asante Kotoko will come in strong after conceding, they could not equalize and as a result have been forced to settle for a defeat on the road.

The win means that Hearts of Oak stay top of the Ghana Premier League table with a three-point advantage ahead of their rivals.
