GPL HIGHLIGHTS: Hearts of Oak reclaim top spot after beating Legon Cities

Hearts of Oak have reclaimed the top spot of the Ghana Premier League standings after defeating Legon Cities FC 2-1 on Thursday.

On the back of what has been a very exciting campaign, the 2020/21 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign is close to its conclusion.

On Wednesday, Asante Kotoko defeated Karela United in the first match of matchday 30 of the ongoing season.

Courtesy of the win, the Reds climbed to the summit of the league table with Hearts of Oak dropping to second.

Going up against Legon Cities FC at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Phobians have made sure to reclaim the top spot after putting up an impressive performance.

In a game played under floodlights, the visitors took the lead through Kwadwo Obeng Jnr in the 29th minute before midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway equalized 10 minutes later to double the lead for the Rainbow club.

Although Legon Cities FC will halve the deficit through a strike from Victorien Adje Adebayor in the 40th minute, Hearts of Oak held on in the second half to cruise to a 2-1 win at the end of the 90 minutes.
