Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour insists Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp must look to buy a world class goalkeeper if he is to bring the Premier League trophy to Anfield one day.

The Reds' title challenge appears to be all but over after defeat to Hull City at the weekend leaves them a whopping 13 points behind runaway leaders Chelsea. Klopp's side have been in poor form since the new year began and have won just once in 10 games.

Manchester City's 2-1 win over Swansea on Sunday now sees the Reds drop out of the top four, but whilst they must quickly rediscover their form if they are to win a place in next season's Champions League, much of the focus has been on the failings of the team'sgoalkeepers, Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

Both men have been culpable of making numerous costly mistakes this season, which helps to explain why Liverpool have the worst defensive record out of the current top six teams in the league.

And as many continue to debate the Reds' defensive failings, Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT that Klopp's main priority when it comes to strengthening his squad at the end of the season should be bringng in a 'world class goalkeeper'.

He said (via theStar):I think you have to look at that position (in goal)yes. If you want to win the league you always need a world class keeper.

Life is unlikely to get any easier for Klopp's side as they host in-form Tottenham Hotspur in their next league meeting and head into the match knowingthat they cannot afford to lose anymore more ground in the top four race, especially as fierce rivals Manchester United are now just a point behind them in sixth place.
