Gyan doubts his availability for DR Congo clash

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is likely to miss the team’s quarterfinal clash against DR Congo on Sunday due to injury.

Gyan who has been involved in Ghana's success so far in the tournament after winning a penalty against Uganda in the opening game and scoring the only goal against Mali, suffered an injury in Ghana’s final group game against Egypt on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old striker lasted for only 37 minutes against Egypt  with reported groin injury and revealed he isn't sure of his early return.

“I felt a sharp pain after, I tried to continue but I couldn’t, for now I don’t know. I will go for a scan and the doctors will know the extent of the injury, but right now am in pain,” he told the BBC.

Coach Avram Grant will need to find alternatives should the Al Ahli attacker fail to recover on time for the game against DR Congo.
