Hamburger SV defender Stephen Ambrosius rejects Ghana as he accepts German U21 call up

Hamburger SV defender, Stephen Ambrosius has rejected Ghana's call up as he accepts German U-21 team call up.

Ambrosius was named among Ghana's squad for the final round of games of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] games against South Africa and Sao Tome on March 25 and 28 respectively.

The budding talent of Bundesliga 2 side Hamburger SV has also been invited by German Under 21 coach Stefan Kuntz for their impending games against Hungary, Netherlands and Romania.

This, Ambrosius, has opted to honour the Germany U21 call-up ahead of his maiden Black Stars call-up.

Henry Asante Twum, who is the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association [GFA] in an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM confirmed that Stephen Ambrosius is currently out of the Black Stars team that will play South Africa and Sao Tome.

Despite the central defender choosing the German U21s over Ghana, he will be still eligible to play for the Black Stars when he finally decides to switch nationality future.

Ghana will take on South Africa on March 25 in Johannesburg before engaging Sao Tome and Principe on March 29, 2021, at the Accra Sports stadium.

The Black Stars sit at the top of Group C with 9 points.

Ghana need just a point to seal their qualification for the tournament that will be hosted in Cameroon.
