Hamburger SV is set to terminate the contract of Ghanaian defender Stephan Ambrosius by offering him a fee that will cover the damages.

The Bundesliga 2 club are said to be working on its squad for the 2023/24 season, and it appears that one player who won't be part of their plans is Stephan Ambrosius.

The 24-year-old was loaned to Karlsruher SC last season and is now returning to Hamburg. However, according to the "Abendblatt," Ambrosius has no future at HSV.

It is likely that HSV will offer Ambrosius a severance package, as he doesn't feature in coach Tim Walter's plans, and his annual salary of 600,000 euros is deterring potential buyers.

At Karlsruher, Stephan Ambrosius played 18 games in the German Bundesliga 2 before his season was curtailed with an injury.

The defender is keen on moving to a new club this summer where he would be guaranteed more playing time.

He switched nationality to play for Ghana from Germany in June 2022 but has still not kicked a ball for the Black Stars.
