Harry Kane Insists Tottenham Players Have the Maturity to Maintain a Title Challenge

Published on: 05 March 2017

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has stated that he thinks the squad have grown in maturity and are capable of fighting for the Premier League title.

Spurs were impressive once again on Sunday as they beat an in-form Everton side 3-2 at White Hart Lane to close the gap on league leaders Chelsea to seven points.

Some believe thatMauricio Pochettino's men appear to be the only team in with a chance of catching the Blues, who can extend their lead at the summit if they avoid defeat toWest Ham on Monday night.

And though Tottenham's chances of catching Chelsea look slim, Kane has insisted that the team have the maturity to keep on pushing Antonio Conte's men right until the very end.

He told theTimes:We are more mature, we've been playing for a couple of years now, so we are getting used to it, knowing each other's game and all fighting in the same direction.

We were disappointed last year. We are in a good position now, trying to catch Chelsea, but it's important we build a gap between the teams around us as well and with Manchester United and Arsenal dropping points it was important we capitalise.

If Chelsea drop points then great and if they don't then we'll be second or third. We've just got to keep that intensity up for the rest of the season.

On a personal level, Kane has been in superb form of late and having scored eight goals in his last four matches, the England striker is currently leading the race to win the Premier League golden boot with a tally of 19.

Whilst he admits that he is in great form, Kane has stated that he will not panic should the goals begin to dry up, as he now looks to continue his prolific run for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old added:I feel great, I feel in great form as a striker, I feel confident I'm going to score goals everytime I step out and help my team. I want to keep it up until the end of the season, but we'll see.

I'm not one to panic if I stop scoring, as you guys know, so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and working hard off the ball as well as on it, and I'll get the chances.
