Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp hasrevealeda comical moment fromwhen Russian strikerRoman Pavlyuchenko firstjoined Spurs in 2008.

The 69-year-old was speaking on BT Sport about how the language barrier can get in the way of certain player's development in English football, citing an example duringPavlyuchenko's first training session in north-London.

Redknapp said that due to his lack of English,Pavlyuchenko had an interpreter that relayed the manager'sinstructions, but through no fault of his own the interpreter caused more issues than he solved, as he had to run on the pitch to instruct the striker eight times during one practice-match, completely knackering himself out in the process.

"And suddenly this guy on the touchline sprinted onto the pitch to tell Pavlyuchenko what I was saying.

The problem with interpreters? They work harder than the players...@Redknapp recalls Pavlyuchenko's first day.😂 https://t.co/lwIgmAVlOG

"After about eight times he had run on, I realised that he worked harder than Pavlyuchenko.

"He came off at the end of the session and he was knackered while Pavlyuchenko hadn't even broken a sweat."

Despite a slow start to life at White Hart Lane,Pavlyuchenko went on to score 42 goals for the Lilywhites 113 appearances over three full-seasons.

He eventually left after a bust-up with Spurs coach Kevin Bond, leading to his £8m move toLokomotiv Moscowin the 2012 January transfer window.
