He has not been impressive but let's hope Black Stars qualify for 2023 AFCON - George Amoako takes swipe at Chris Hughton

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of King Faisal, George Amoako says Chris Hughton has not been impressive as head of the Black Stars.

The former Premier League manager was awarded a 21-month contract by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the resignation of Otto Addo after the country's early elimination at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

After three games played, Hughton has recorded a win and two draws in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Assessing the performance of the Black Stars coach, George Amoako claims he is not impressed with Hughton.

He told Angel FM in an interview, that Ghanaians should pray the team qualifies for the next AFCON in Ivory Coast.

“Have you seen Chris Hughton’s performance? He has played three matches. He hasn’t been impressive,” Mr Amoako, who is an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said.

He added, “If you look at the teams, Madagascar. I went to see the game against Angola and all the games I have seen we play under him. I am not really impressed. Let’s pray at least that we will qualify for the 2023 AFCON.”

Ghana will host the Central African Republic (CAR) in the final round of qualifiers in September and must win to ensure their place in the tournament.
