Accra Hearts Coach Franks Nuttal says Malik Akowuah starts from the bench due to lack of match fitness.
The midfielder has struggled with injuries this season making it difficult to break into the team.
Akowuah was the main starter until Leonard Tawiah pushed in down the pecking order.
Coach Nuttal insists all players maust compete for position in the team hence the reason Akowuah can make a starting lineup.
“Malik had some injuries weeks ago and we made some changes as a result, forced changes and Leonard came into the team and over the few games Leonard in particular played well. He deserves to be in the starting eleven,” Nuttal said after the game.
“During that period Malik is recovering from injuries and is getting match fitness,” he added.
Malik Akowuah replaced Leonard Tawiah at half time in the phobians 4-0 thrashing of Kotoku Royals in the MTN FA cup round of 16.
