Hearts of Oak set to name former Rwanda and Sierra Leone coach for vacant coaching role

Accra Hearts of Oak are set to name former Rwanda and Sierra Leone National team Coach Jonny McKinstry as their substantive coach ahead of the coming season.

 

The 31-year-old is said to have expressed interest in the Hearts job after joining the numerous foreign coaches to have applied for the vacant coaching role.

 

Hearts are in search of a new coach following the departure of interim coach Yaw Preko and head coach Kenichi Yatshuhashi who parted ways mutually prior to the second round of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League season.

 

who was in charge of Rwanda when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ghana in a 2017 Cup of Nations qualifier in Kigali is believed to be among over 30 Coaches who are seeking the top job at the Ghanaian giants.

 

The Phobians are expected to announce the appointment of a new head Coach in the coming days with reports suggesting the Northern Irish football manager to be the front-runner.

 

Hearts of Oak, despite not having a substantive coach, managed to reach the final of the just GHALCA G6 pre-season tournament under the tutelage of newly-appointed assistant Coach Henry Willington.
