Hearts of Oak captain Awako congratulates teammates after victory over Asante Kotoko

Hearts of Oak emerged victorious over Asante Kotoko in a thrilling Ghana Premier League match day 20 fixture on Sunday.

The match also served as the 2023 President Cup, and former WAFA captain Konadu Yiadom’s towering header secured the only goal of the game for Hearts of Oak in the second half.

Although Hearts of Oak captain Gladson Awako missed the match due to injury, he was in the stands to cheer on his teammates to victory.

Following the game, Awako congratulated the team on their win and praised their performance.

In a social media post, Awako expressed his delight, stating, "Back 2 Back President Cup Winners +3 points. Massive team performance from the guys yesterday. Fans were amazing once again. UNTIL THE BONES ARE ROTTEN, we ain’t giving up. let’s keep believing @HeartsOfOakGH."

The win was an important one for Hearts of Oak, who now sit fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 31 points, four points behind leaders Aduana FC.

The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue their quest for the league title.
