Hearts of Oak have confirmed parting ways with three of their goalkeepers, Richard Attah, Richmond Ayi, and Eric Ofori Antwi, ahead of the start of the new season.

Head coach Aboubakar Ouattara broke the the news at a press conference on Thursday, ending speculation that began after the ‘Phobians’ fielded none of the trio in their recent Democracy Cup clash against arch-rivals Kotoko.

“Those players (Richard Attah, Richmond Ayi, and Eric Ofori Antwi) are no more with us,” Ouattara stated.

Attah and Ayi have been pivotal to Hearts of Oak’s recent success. Attah, who joined from Elmina Sharks in 2020, and Ayi, who arrived from WAFA in 2019, were instrumental in the team’s domestic treble triumph in the 2020/21 season.

Attah, as the first-choice goalkeeper, played a crucial role in that victorious campaign. Meanwhile, Eric Ofori Antwi, who signed last summer, had his season marred by injuries, preventing him from making a significant impact.

Reports indicate that they have reached an agreement with Great Olympics’ Benjamin Asare and are in talks to bring in Abdulai Iddrisu, an outcast from Simba SC.
