Hearts of Oak 'counting' on Medeama for Ghana Premier League survival

The Ghana Premier League campaign is expected to come to an end this weekend with an intruding fixtures.

The top-flight reaches its climax as Legon Cities host Samartex, Karela United visit Kotoku Royals, Tamale City face Medeama, Great Olympics host Nsoatreman, and Accra Lions travel to Bibiani to play against Gold Stars.

The final matchday promises suspense and high stakes as club’s battle for their respective positions in the league.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have dragged themselves into the relegation mire as they are 11th on the league standings with 45 points which makes their final match away to Berekum Chelsea a must win.

The Phobians have been poor in their last seven games, losing six and winning just one in the process.

The battle for relegation is keenly contested, with clubs like Karela United, Accra Lions, Legon Cities, Tamale City, and Great Olympics fighting to escape the drop.

A win or draw will ensure their safety in the league but should they falter against Berekum Chelsea, their destiny will largely depend on the outcome of some results.

If Karela United, Accra Lions, Legon Cities, Tamale City, and Great Olympics are able to win their respect games whiles Hearts of Oak falter, the Ghanaian giants would need a favour from Medeama to beat Tamale City to prevent ensure their safety.

The final round games are expected to be played simultaneously at the various centres on Sunday.
