Hearts of Oak new acquisition Michael Awuah Mensah has called on the club's fans not to lose faith in the team as they gear up for the new season.

The Phobians narrowly avoided relegation following a 3-2 comeback win over Bechem United on the final day of the Ghana Premier League last season.

Their disappointing performance in the recently concluded campaign saw the Ghanaian giants finish 14th on the table.

However, they recently suffered a 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the inaugural Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking their third consecutive loss to the Porcupine Warriors.

Speaking in an interview, the former Nations FC defender advocated for an unwavering support for the team ahead of the new season.

“We were hurt after falling short to Kotoko in the Democracy Cup. We wanted to lift the trophy to apiece our fans after a disappointing season”

“I will urge the fans not to lose hope in the team. The fans should exercise patience. I believe the leadership of the club are working around the clock to make things better”

“No one should be surprise if Hearts of Oak wins the league. We can win the league. Hearts of Oak is a big club so it’s no news if we win the league” he said.

The defender recently secured a move to Hearts of Oak from Nations FC following an impressive performance last term.

He penned a three-year deal with the Accra-based club and is expected to play a huge role for the team next season.
