Hearts of Oak defender, Samuel Inkoom has disclosed why he made a return to the Ghana Premier League, claiming he wanted to help promote the top-flight.

The 33-year-old joined the Phobians in April this year and played a key role for the club as they clinched their 12th MTN FA Cup title by beating Bechem United at the Baba Yara stadium.

Inkoom, who has been linked with a move to several clubs following his impressive performances for Samuel Boadu's side made nine appearances in the Ghana Premier League and scored two goals last season.

"Me coming back to the Ghana Premier League, I also wanted to help", he told on Happy 98.9FM.

"Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari have all returned and helped boost the image of the league and it will also go a long way to attract sponsors. I also decided to come back to also help promote the league as well. We as players shouldn’t leave it to just the Ghana Football Association in promoting the league."
