Karela United head coach, Abubakar Damba, has conceded that his team fell short in Saturday's Ghana Premier League clash against Hearts of Oak.

Despite taking an early lead with a goal from Dafie Mumin Mohammed just four minutes into the game, Karela United succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium in their week 26 fixture.

Hearts of Oak staged a comeback with two goals from Hamza Issa and a remarkable long-range strike by Salim Adams.

Reflecting on the match in his post-game remarks, Damba commended the performance of Hearts of Oak, acknowledging their effectiveness in seizing opportunities.

"While it's disappointing, I must admit that Hearts of Oak put on an impressive display. They exhibited great momentum and capitalized on their chances, which is fundamental in football," he remarked.

With this loss, Karela United finds themselves in the relegation zone with 30 points from 26 matches.

Assessing his team's performance, Damba highlighted their inability to create sufficient scoring opportunities.

"We lacked the creativity to generate chances. Despite scoring first, we lost our momentum. We didn't create enough opportunities, let alone convert them," he explained.

Karela United's next league encounter will be against 8th-placed Accra Lions at home on Sunday.
