The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV, has urged the club's fans to stop worrying unnecessarily and allow football to serve as a bonding agent between the management and the supporters.

Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana's most successful football clubs, has not enjoyed much success in recent seasons, despite winning the league, FA Cup, and other cups in the 2020/21 season.

The club's fans have been expressing their dissatisfaction with the management style, but Togbe Afede has called for support from the fans, regardless of any differences.

Speaking at the club's 6th Annual General Meeting in Accra on Thursday, April 4, Togbe Afede said that football should bring joy and unity, even in war-torn countries.

“When at peace, you are happy, sometimes you can worry yourself unnecessarily, there are already enough problems out so let the football keep us.

“Football is supposed to bring joy and that is why even in war-torn countries when there is football, they all unite.

“Why is it that in Hearts of Oak, we fight our own?”
