Hearts of Oak have not won the league title yet - Kotoko's assistant coach Johnson Smith claims

Asante Kotoko assistant coach, Johnson Smith, says Hearts of Oak have not won the Ghana Premier League title insisting his outfit will fight for the ultimate until the end of the season.

Following the Porcupine Warriors 2-1 defeat to Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Sunday, Hearts of Oak despite sharing spoils with Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium were declared winners of the 2020/21 Champions.

Hearts of Oak currently sit on top of the league log with 61 points with a game to end the season with Kotoko sitting on the second position with 57 points.

But, Smith in his post-match interview after their shocking defeat insisted Asante Kotoko still stand a chance of winning the title.

“You’re saying we are out of the league but still we are fighting because there is still one match to go so we are not out of the title race now," he said after the game.

"We are still fighting. We want to finish the final game of the season and see who will eat the sugar on the cake,” he added.

Hearts of Oak will wrap up their season with an away game against WAFA at the Red Bull Arena at Sogakope on Saturday while Asante Kotoko will host Elmina Sharks at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
