Hearts of Oak is the best club in Ghana, says ex-Ghana midfielder Michael Essien after title triumph

Former Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien has joined the Hearts of Oak party following their Ghana Premier League triumph.

The Rainbow have been declared winners of the 2020/21 season with a game to end the season.

The Phobians despite sharing spoils with Liberty Professionals in the matchday 33 game at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend ended their 12 years trophy drought.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s first-half strike was cancelled out by a late goal from Paul Kwame as the two teams shared the spoils.

Hearts were aided by the result of bitter rivals Asante Kotoko, who lost 2-1 to Bechem United.

In a post on Instagram, Essien described the club as the best club in Ghana.

“Congratulations to Accra Hearts of Oak. Phoooobia the best,” the former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder wrote.

The Phobians will represent the country in the 2021/22 Caf Champions League.
