Hearts of Oak midfielder Glid Otanga laments the team's inability to take their chances

In the aftermath of Hearts of Oak's latest clash against Accra Great Olympics, midfielder Glid Otanga, a key player for the Phobians, lamented about a recurring problem haunting their otherwise brilliant performances – the team's inability to convert chances into goals.

Otanga, a Congolese midfielder, expressed his frustration, highlighting the contradiction between their exciting play and glaring lack of finishing.

For Hearts of Oak, the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season has been a rollercoaster of emotions, with moments of brilliance tempered by the glaring concern of not finding the back of the net. Otanga, in a candid reflection, asserted that the team's style and strategy are on point, leaving spectators excited, but the agonizing lack of goals is undermining their efforts.

This frustration is not confined to the pitch; it has spilled over into the stands. Recent matches have witnessed passionate supporters venting their discontent in the stadiums. Some of the disgruntled voices point fingers at the board, holding them accountable for the team's struggles.

“As a player, I can’t accuse someone because for me, if we (players) don’t win, we don’t have excuse to say the technical team or the board is not the good. We don’t have any excuse . For me, we are the principal problem and the principal solution," Otanga told ghanasportspage.com.

“The coach is doing his job and we are playing so good. We create a lot of chances but we can’t score," he added.
