Hearts of Oak are preparing to release 14 players ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
According to Graphic Sports, the list includes Congolese players Glid Otanga and Linda Mtange. Both players joined the club two seasons ago but failed to meet expectations, prompting the club to part ways with them.
Some players are departing because they have secured deals with other clubs, while others are being transferred due to their inability to make a significant impact.
Salim Adams, who recently returned from a brief stint with FC Cincinnati in the USA, has signed with Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman. Influential midfielder Ibrahim Salifu, who chose not to renew his contract, has joined FC Drita in Kosovo.
Other players leaving the club include Enock Asubonteng, Nurudeen Abdul Aziz, Evans Adomako, Issa Kuka, Zakaria Yakubu, and Levetius Arthur. Additionally, the goalkeeping duo of Richmond Ayi and Richard Attah, along with Kwadwo Osei Bonsu, Sherif Shuab, Thomas Winimi, and captain Kofi Agbesima, are also set to depart.
This significant reshuffle is part of Hearts of Oak’s strategy to build a stronger and more competitive team for the upcoming season. The club's management is keen on bringing in fresh talent to bolster their squad and improve their chances of success in domestic and international competitions.
After losing 2-1 to Asante Kotoko in the maiden edition of the Democracy Cup, Hearts of Oak will face Heart of Lions in the 2024 Homowo Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
