The newly appointed Managing Director of Hearts of Oak, Dr Delali Anku-Adiamah, has expressed confidence in the club's ability to reclaim its former glory under his leadership.
After experiencing a downturn in performance in recent years following their previous successes under Samuel Boadu, which included winning the Premier League and two FA Cups after an 11-year hiatus, Hearts of Oak has struggled to maintain a top-four position in the Ghana Premier League over the past three seasons.
As of the current 2023/24 season, the team sits in 7th place on the league table after 19 games, securing 27 points with six wins, nine draws, and four losses.
Dr. Anku-Adiamah acknowledges the challenges but remains optimistic about the club's future prospects. While he admits that winning the league this season might be a tall order, he emphasizes a long-term vision aimed at restoring the club to its former glory.
"I am super competitive and from the top, we are all winners," he told Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.
"If you look at the club now, we are now playing more fluid and attacking football."
He emphasized the importance of approaching every match with a winning mentality and maintaining consistency.
While acknowledging that clinching the Premier League title this year might not be feasible, he reiterated his commitment to a strategic plan focused on long-term success.
"We need to head into any game with that mindset of winning every game and we must be consistent about that.
"Maybe this year, we will not be able to win the Premier League but with a long-term plan, we will return to win the league," he added.
Hearts of Oak is gearing up to face Bofoakwa Tano in their upcoming Matchday 20 fixture at the WAFA Park in Sogakope on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
