Hearts of Oak withdraw interest in signing David Abagna Sandan - Report

Published on: 19 January 2023

Ghanaian giants, Hearts of Oak, have halted its pursuit of signing midfielder David Abagna Sandan from Real Tamale United (RTU) this January, as reported by Kumasi-based media outlet Pure FM.

The 24-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2022/23 season and would have been able to join the Rainbow club on a free.

However, RTU have placed a significant transfer fee demand of $200,000, which has caused Hearts of Oak to withdraw their interest in acquiring the player. The Phobians had made an offer of around $50,000, which was rejected by RTU.

RTU is hopeful that Abagna will have a standout performance at the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria, which could potentially boost his market value.

It appears that the Phobians' decision to back out of the deal was influenced by the high transfer fee being demanded by RTU.

Additionally, they may not have been willing to pay such a large sum for a player who will be available as a free agent soon. They are hopeful he will come in for free at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen if any other clubs will step forward to sign David Abagna Sandan and agree to RTU's transfer fee demands.
