The United Nations Association of Ghana (UNA Ghana) have announced a partnership with the nation's most glamorous football teams, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko which will see the two sides renew their storied rivalry on September 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to the Deputy Secretary General of the UNA Ghana, George Amanor, the football match which is slated to kick-off at 3.00pm next Wednesday is part of efforts to promote peace ahead of the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in December.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday in Accra, Mr Amanor said all Ghanaians could learn a lot from the fans of both sides who have over the years learnt to cope with their emotions after losing crucial matches.

He said his outfit has sent out invites to former Presidents, political parties, faith-based groups, educational institutions as well as journalists in a bid to drive home the importance of peace to national development.

The Greater Accra chairman of the Kotoko support wing, Michael Boamah pledged the support of his side for national unity but he vowed that the Porcupine Warriors will hammer the Phobians by four goals to nil to carry the day.

He said, "Kotoko will always be for peace because without peace we will not get the atmosphere required to punish Hearts on such occasions. It is a virgin trophy so we want it to appease our supporters for what has been a poor season. Victory will also make it three in a row for us in Accra after we pipped them for the President's Cup as well as the league."

The supporters’ PRO of Hearts, Sunsum Busumuru, vowed that the match provides the Phobians with the perfect opportunity to reverse their recent poor fortunes against Kotoko.

"It is true that lately we have been struggling against them but when it's Hearts versus Kotoko with a virgin trophy at stake, we always come out on top. Our problems are now behind us because Yaw Preko, a disciple of Kenichi Yatsuhashi is now the coach so sushi football will carry the day".

Ticket prices for the game range between GHC 5 and GHC 20.
