Herrera ready to face Rams

Jose Mourinho has suggested that Ander Herrera could feature for Manchester United in their EFL Cup clash with Derby County on Tuesday.

The Spanish midfielder has recovered from the ankle injury he sustained against Burnley at the start of the month and may return to action in the third-round encounter with the Rams at Old Trafford.

Nemanja Matic could also return after being suspended for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wolves but Marcus Rashford misses out as he is serving the last of his three-game ban.

"Ander is ready," Mourinho confirmed. "Marcos Rojo is the only player that is not available through injury and it's Marcus Rashford's last suspension match."

Meanwhile, Tuesday's game will see former Chelsea boss Mourinho lock horns with ex-Blues midfielder Frank Lampard who is now managing Derby.

The two men won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups in a three-year spell at Stamford Bridge and Lampard is looking forward to pitting his wits against his former mentor.

The County boss said: "He was great and hugely influential for me and my era at Chelsea. John Terry, Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole would all say the same.

"He came in with a real confidence in himself which transmitted onto the pitch. He was very forward thinking in his coaching and I loved it.

"To win the game is going to be very difficult but if we can make a real good go of it and compete, we have a good opportunity to get a result. We stand up and show that we can compete on the big stage."

Derby are available at 11/2 to qualify for the fourth round while United can be backed at 1/9. Lampard's side are 11/2 to be promoted from the Championship this term.
