Hertha Berlin forward, Kevin Prince Boateng has attacked German legend, Lothar Matthäus for criticizing his side.

Following Hertha's home defeat against Mainz 05 over the weekend in the Bundesliga, Matthäus speaking to Sky Sports Germany slammed the team for the poor performance.

"You probably can't blame yourself much in terms of fighting. The team didn't show much quality today and therefore deservedly lost," said Matthäus.

However, the former Ghana forward has slammed the 1990 FIFA World Cup winner.

According to the former Barcelona and AC Milan ace, Matthäus behaves as if he knows everything.

"We weren't in the game, we weren't fresh in our heads. But I heard Matthew, he knows everything again. Everything is bad here with us!”

"We lacked a lot, calm on the ball and cleverness. But it was the fourth game in a row at full throttle, so that can happen," he added.

The home defeat leave Hertha at the 15th position with 33 points and will be hosted by Borussia Dortmund in the final game of the season at the Signal Iduna Park.

Boateng, who joined the club last summer has made a total of 19 appearances in all competitions.
