He’s a fantastic role model for others – Brighton manager on Tariq Lamptey

Brighton & Hove Albion manager, Graham Potter has noted that teenage sensation Tariq Lamptey is a fantastic role model for other players.

The versatile defender joined the English Premier League outfit from Chelsea FC in the winter transfer window and has been a joy to watch since the 2020/2021 football season started.

While Tariq Lamptey continues to earn different plaudits for his performances, his manager Graham Potter believes the kid is in addition a fantastic role model with his off the field attitude.

“As impressive as he is in terms of his footballing ability, as a person I think he's a fantastic role model”, the Brighton manager said in an interview.

He continued, "There's a perception that you have to be a certain way to succeed in this cynical, horrible world we live in.

"But he's the opposite in terms of just a really, really nice, down-to-earth kid that wants to learn, wants to improve, wants to help the team. He's been fantastic.

"I think he's got a long way to go to reach his potential, to reach his maximum, which is normal.

"But he's got attributes that are really exciting and they are not so common. I'm talking about of course his speed, but it's also his courage, it's his intelligence, it's his interpersonal skills, how he is as a lad”.

At age 19, Tariq Lamptey has displayed enormous potential and is being tipped to become a top professional in the near future.
