'He's So Quick to Cover Space!' Ryan Giggs Singles Out Who United Should Have Signed in the Summer

After a pretty uninspiring opening to the campaign, Manchester United appear to be finding their feet under Jose Mourinho - still, sitting sixth after 24 rounds of matches isn't good enough for a club of United's size, and Jose's boys will obviously be looking to push on for the remainder of the campaign.

While, by and large, United's summer signings appear to be working out (step forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly andHenrikh Mkhitaryan), there is always room for improvement.

With that in mind,Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs has claimed there was a certain player available in the summer who could have made all the difference.

That man's name? N'Golo Kante. The combative midfielder was one of last season's star performersand after helping Leicester City to the title, the 25-year-old promptly earned himself a blockbuster move to current league leaders Chelsea.

"All I can say is that last season I hoped United would sign Kante, and in the end his buy-out clause looked very good value at £29m," Giggs wrote in his Telegraph column, and as reported by GMS.

"Kante hunts the ball down. He is so quick to cover space, get to the ball and make the tackle.

"I have played against that kind of opponent over the years. They are a nightmare - you cannot shake them off.

There's no doubt thatKante has carried on his irresistible form from last campaign andhas formed an excellentpartnership with Nemanja Matic in the middle of Conte's team.

As for United's midfield, Ander Herrera and summer signing Paul Pogba have created their own dynamic in Mourinho's midfield, but it's fair to say they haven't reached the heights of their Chelsea counterparts thus far.

Would Kante have made United better? Quite possibly, and as far as Giggs is concerned, United really missed the boat on that one.
