Howard Webb Reveals Jose Mourinho Once Smashed an iPad on the Touchline During a Match

Known for kicking water bottles, gouging eyes and touchline sprints, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is not your regular Joe.

The Portuguese has already been sent off twice this season for his questionable behaviour, and looks to be cracking under the pressure of not being able to come up with the right results.

We should probably expect more entertainment from him as the season wears on. And according to former referee Howard Webb, the 53-year-old isn't beyond smashing tech gear when he throws a touchline tantrum.

Webb, speaking in an exclusive interview with theMirror, revealed that Mourinho once smashed an iPad on the touchline during his first spell at Chelsea.

"I can remember a game about eight or nine years ago during his first spell at Chelsea, he once smashed an iPad or something similar down onto the floor in a game that I refereed back in the middle of the last decade," said the ex-official.

"You know there's always that emotion, that passion, that fire and that ability to behave unacceptably as well when things aren't going right. Then again, I guess it's part of his persona and part of the reason why he's successful but also part of the failing on his part as well.

"But I guess that's what you get with him, and I did enjoy working alongside him on the pitch when he was working in the technical area. He's a colourful character, he brings a lot of colour to the league.

"Yes, you get what you get, but you have to accept that when he does what he does, he pays the price."
